PTL chief dealer fears for his safety

By Shehan Chamika Silva

ASG Yasantha Kodagoda  asked the PCoI to make appropriate direction to the Police to commence ‘an assessment’ on threats, that could be received to PTL Chief Dealer Nuwan Salgado under certain legal provisions provided in the Witness Protection Act as the witness was regarded as a ‘whistle blower’, who disclosed criminal aspects of his working place.

Nuwan Salgado addressing the Commission also said that he was concerned about
his safety at that moment because he had revealed names relating to politicians in his testimony.

However, Justice Jayawardena observed that the witness had not revealed any names whatsoever related politicians but there was only a mention of ‘one pilfering son of a politician.’

Subsequently, the Commission said that it would make appropriate directions if necessary after observing the legal provisions of the Act closely.
